Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips discusses Marcelo Bielsa

Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips claims that Marcelo Bielsa hasn’t changed despite the poor start to the season.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the 25-year-old shared some insight into how Bielsa feels about things and also praised the Whites fans.

The Whites face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup tonight, which could be seen as an opportunity to kickstart their season after a slow start in the Premier League.

Speaking about Bielsa, Phillips said: “To be honest, he hasn’t changed much.

“He’s always the same person whether we are winning or losing. He doesn’t make us feel more or less comfortable; he has always been very honest with us and adamant, talking a lot about the way we want to play.”

Phillips then lauded the fans: “It’s very special to see all the fans.

“I never thought the Leeds United fan-base could get any louder. Over the last few games home and away, it’s been ridiculous.”

Bielsa remains the same.

The Argentine could have been rattled by the Whites’ start and made changes to the way he approaches things, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

This is good to hear, and it suggests that Bielsa is still focused and confident that the Whites can improve.

In truth, they have been missing key players for much of the season, and as soon as that changes and they return, then we would expect the Whites to climb up the table.

Certainly, Phillips doesn’t sound too worried here, and it seems as if his confidence is still high, which you would hope reflects how the rest of the squad feel.

It is also great to hear Phillips praise the fans because let us all not forget that Leeds played almost all of last season in front of no fans.

So to have them back in their huge numbers is brilliant and the England international clearly loves it.
