Leeds United star Diego Llorente impresses Lee Dixon
Leeds United star Diego Llorente blew Lee Dixon away with one of his passes in the first half against Arsenal.
With the score at 0-0, the Spaniard picked up the ball in the first half and pinged a delightful ball through for Dan James.
It was a perfect pass that would have deserved a goal at the end of it, but James’ first touch wasn’t perfect, and then as he went to flick the ball past Bernd Leno, he made no contact with the ball.
However, that didn’t stop Dixon from praising Llorente on the BBC.
He said: “A brilliant ball, but Daniel James just make the mistake of looking up, and Leno gets to the ball.”
Sublime stuff from Llorente.
It is hard to describe how perfect this pass was.
It was absolutely delightful and swerved perfectly to James, and it is such a shame that he couldn’t finish it off because it would have been up there for Leeds’ Goal of the Season.
It is no wonder that Dixon was impressed, and that sort of pass has become a bit of a Llorente trademark and one of these days, it will lead to a goal.
The Whites started slowly but grew into the game in the first half and finished the stronger of the two sides.
Then in the second half, Leeds also played well and were unlucky not to get the winner before losing 2-0.
Either way, though, Llorente played very well this evening, and if he can stay fit, the Whites should be on course for a strong season in both the cup and the league; he is that important.
In other Leeds United news, Lee Hendrie was left unimpressed by one Whites player in the first half.
