Leeds United staff member smashes desk in fury after what one player did in defeat vs Burnley

Daniel Farke would have been hugely frustrated by Leeds United’s failure to take their chances against Burnley.

Leeds were beaten 2-0 by Burnley on Saturday, despite dominating in every attacking metric.

The Whites enjoyed more possession and created far more chances, and expected goals (xG) than their hosts, but fell behind to two moments of brilliance.

Leeds were praised for their performance against Burnley, but the travelling Elland Road faithful were ultimately left to make the trip back home without anything to show for it.

Farke is risking the sack at Leeds, with an incredibly harsh Premier League run approaching after the visit of West Ham next week.

Karl Darlow infuriates Leeds staff

Lucas Perri was ruled out of the Burnley clash, despite returning to training before the international break.

That meant Karl Darlow was once again given the start, despite failing to impress for either of Tottenham’s goals.

There was little the Wales international could have done to prevent Burnley’s goals, especially Loum Tchaouna’s stunning strike, but he did draw criticism with the ball at his feet.

Darlow completed just 60 per cent of his passes, and only two of his 11 long balls found a teammate.

According to the Mail on Sunday, one moment, in particular, prompted anger from within the Leeds camp.

Moments before Burnley’s opener, the 35-year-old gave away a throw-in trying to play out from the back and, sitting in the press box, a Leeds analyst smashed his desk in fury,” Aadam Patel wrote.

Leeds face a goalkeeping nightmare

Perri is expected to return to the starting line-up for Leeds against West Ham next week, but the goalkeeper did not exactly impress in his three appearances for the Whites.

The Brazilian faced just three shots on target against Newcastle United and Everton, and in fairness, kept two clean sheets, but his weaknesses were on full show against Arsenal.

The Gunners peppered the Leeds goal with crosses, which, time and time again, Perri failed to deal with.

With six weeks passing since his last appearance, Farke will hope that the Brazilian will be ready to step in and provide a clear upgrade on Darlow.
