Michael Skubala heaped praise on Leeds United under-21s youngster Mateo Joseph after the electric talent netted a hattrick against Stoke City on Friday evening.
Leeds United U21s eased to a 4-0 win on the night at the LNER Community stadium in York, with another striking talent Sonny Perkins adding a fourth to Joseph’s three goals.
Skubala admitted that Joseph was “fantastic” on the night and claimed the youngster has been a warrior in training recently.
Speaking to Leeds Live, Skubala spoke highly of the Spaniard and praised his terrific performance on the night, something that is becoming a recurring theme in recent games.
“I think Mateo was fantastic tonight,” he said.
“He’s come in and out a little bit but he’s been training like a warrior and you can see that in his game.
“I think sometimes you can talk about some other players but Mateo is very humble and very quiet in a way but he’s really working hard, he’s got that energy and desire and we saw that in his goals and his finishing. He’s a threat for any defence.”

Talent.
Joseph linked up with the Leeds United youth ranks in January last year, joining from La Liga side RCD Espanyol, he came with a big reputation.
It was his impressive form that alerted the eagle-eyed Leeds recruitment department to his apparent talents, he bagged 14 goals in 21 matches for the Espanyol Under-19s team last season.
Joseph was born in Spain to British parents and penned a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Whites, a contract that will likely be extended on his current form.
The youngster has been a pivotal player in the youthful Whites’ unbeaten start to the Premier League 2 campaign, where they have five wins and a draw from their opening six games.
If Leeds’ first team squad progresses in cup competitions this season, there should be a host of chances for the young starlets to get their chance at first squad action.
The future certainly looks bright, hopefully, the youngsters will can their chances at Elland Road or at least be loaned out to competitive clubs in the higher tiers of English football.
