Leeds United: Sky Sports journalist makes ‘mouth-watering’ Championship title prediction
Leeds United could be involved in a “mouth-watering” Championship title race, according to Sky Sports journalist Simeon Gholam.
That is thanks to a dip in form from Leicester City and an “irrepressible” run of form from the Elland Road club.
The Whites currently occupy top spot on 82 points, with only goal difference keeping them ahead of the Foxes, who have a game in hand.
“Leicester City have the chance to retake top spot in the Sky Bet Championship, at least briefly, on Good Friday,” Gholam wrote for Sky Sports.
“But it never should have been this way. When Leeds were beaten at West Brom in the final game before the end of last year, they were left in fourth place in the table, 17 points adrift of the runaway Foxes.
“But a Leicester dip since, and an irrepressible run of form in 2024 from Leeds – which has seen them drop just two points from 13 games thus far – has given us a mouth-watering potential end to the campaign.”
Leeds United eye Premier League promotion after stunning turnaround
It has been a stunning run from the Whites, who looked well out of contention for the league title not so long ago.
But Daniel Farke has motivated his players to the very top of the standings, although just one goal is currently the difference between his side and the Foxes.
That could all change in the next round of fixtures, with Enzo Maresca’s side able to go back to the top when they travel to Bristol City early on Friday (29 March).
Everyone associated with Leeds will be keeping an eye on that one, with their club then in action on Friday night against Watford.
Vicarage Road plays host to that clash, with the Whites keen to continue their superb run of form, although the recent international break may just have disrupted their momentum.

But the league title won’t be decided in these games, with many twists and turns still expected between now and the end of the season.
