Leeds United: Sky Sports host wowed by Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville in win v Swansea
Sky Sports host Sam Parkin was left wowed by Leeds United forwards Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto after their “exceptional” double act in their 4-0 win over Swansea.
The Whites were aiming to maintain their push for automatic promotion places when they took on a struggling Swansea side at the Swansea.com Stadium (13 February).
Daniel Farke’s rampant men sealed their seventh successive win in the Championship with goals from Summerville, two from Gnonto and a strike from Joel Piroe saw the Whites move back into the automatic promotion place in the Championship table.
The fourth goal, in particular, left Parkin wowed live on Sky Sports Arena’s coverage of the game (13 February, 9:18 pm) after the Dutchman laid on Gnonto for his second after another fluid counter-attack.
He said: “That is exceptional from two of the best talents in the Championship. The pass was misplaced and Summerville is on to it, it was just a case of whether he could find the pass, and get the right pace on the wet surface but the pass was perfect for Gnonto.
“Bashir Humphreys can’t lay a hand really on the leg or foot of the forward, otherwise, it’s a red card, that allows him to go beyond him and then Gnonto just arrows it into the bottom corner.”
Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville can fire Leeds to the Premier League in this mood
It’s amazing how much Gnonto has transformed his career at Elland Road when it all seemed like he was geared up to quit the club in the January transfer window.
With Dan James on fire for Daniel Farke, it also seemed as if the Whites were open to his sale should the right offer come along but none came and Gnonto remained and it’s proving an absolute masterstroke.
The little Italian has been absolutely peerless in recent weeks and the news that he may be set for a new deal at Leeds United certainly shows that his chapter in West Yorkshire isn’t finished.
Why would he leave when he has the stupendous Summerville alongside him who bagged his 16th goal and his ninth assist of the campaign?
In Summerville and Gnonto, Farke certainly possesses two of the best talents in the division but also two talents that can secure the Whites’ place in the Premier League on their own.
It’s now seven wins on the spin for the Whites in the Championship and as they gear up to face Plymouth and Leicester City in their next two games, Enzo Maresca’s high-flyers especially must beware of Gnonto and Summerville’s “exceptional” attacking threat.
