Leeds United: Simon Jordan shares ‘fascinating’ promotion verdict in new Leicester City admission
Leicester City are still favourites ahead of both Ipswich Town and Leeds United to win the “remarkable” Championship this season, according to Simon Jordan.
Daniel Farke’s side currently sit third in the Championship, two points behind second-placed Ipswich and five behind league leaders Leicester who have lost three consecutive matches in the league to close the gap.
While most pundits and supporters had assumed Leeds would make an immediate return to the Premier League this term, Jordan has refused to write Ipswich off admitting he has been impressed by them in this “fascinating” title race.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday (5 March, 12:54) he said: “This is a remarkable league. You’re looking at three teams that can win the league, six or seven teams that could get into the playoffs and nine teams that could get relegated.
“There’s no other league like it. The Championship is a brilliant, brilliant league and one that needs to be enhanced and promoted more because there is no league that contains this level of jeopardy on a weekly basis.
“If they [Leicester] win, they’re back on track again. I think the remarkable story in recent weeks has been the return of Ipswich because everybody wrote them off, everyone thought that the moment Leeds got into the groove, the relegated clubs were going to dominate the automatic places, which is not proving to be the case.
“I think it’s a fascinating situation and I still think Leicester are going to come out on top of it.”
Will Leeds United beat Leicester City or Ipswich Town to the Premier League this season?
It is amazing what a couple of days can do in the Championship because in the space of just a game or two, the entire promotion race has been flipped on its head and now nobody is quite sure what to expect next.
Ipswich have been incredibly tough to beat this season and while they have drawn a few too many games, it’s hard to see them falling away in the final weeks of the season given their impressive record so far.

Leicester are in a bit of a wobble following their defeat to Leeds United, but they have shown that they are capable of beating anyone and everyone in this league and will almost certainly turn the tide at the King Power sooner rather than later.
The most important thing for Farke and his side is to get back to winning ways against Stoke City on Tuesday (5 March). If they win every game between now and the end of the season, the table and promotion will take care of itself.
