ITV host shares disbelief after ‘crazy’ thing he noticed after Leeds United 0-0 v Sheffield Wednesday
Hugh Woozencroft shared his disbelief at watching a rare stalemate on a day otherwise packed with drama on Saturday [2 September] as Leeds United were held by Sheffield Wednesday.
The 0-0 draw between Yorkshire rivals Leeds and Wednesday at Elland Road was selected as the main game for ITV’s English Football League Highlights show, which Woozencroft presents.
As Woozencroft later pointed out on Twitter, the local derby was not just the only game without a goal in the Championship, but also in the Premier League, League One and Scottish Premiership.
“What a crazy day of football! Virtually every result had a subplot or a shock,” Woozencroft posted on Saturday [2 September].
“On my way home from the only 0-0 in the Premier League, Championship and League One and Scottish Premiership. Unbelievable.”

A day of drama it may have been in England and Scotland, but neither the Leeds nor Sheffield Wednesday fans were given anything to cheer at Elland Road.
The game certainly had its moments, with a combined eight shots on target.
One of those came via Georginio Rutter, who effectively passed the ball to opposition goalkeeper Devis Vasquez as an attempted lob when through on goal went wrong.
Wednesday player Callum Paterson, meanwhile, fired into the ground and over the crossbar from close range with plenty of the goal to aim for.

In the end both teams were left to rue what might have been, but it was ultimately a point apiece come the end and disappointment for the home fans in particular.
Perhaps we shouldn’t have been too surprised, though, as Leeds’ most recent goalless draw in the Championship – prior to their spell in the Premier League – was against the same opponents at Hillsborough in October 2019.
In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke was left unhappy after the draw with Wednesday.
