Leeds United set to announce player exits at Elland Road on Friday
Leeds United are set to announce player exits at Elland Road on Friday (7 June), according to Graham Smyth.
When asked about the release of a retained list at Elland Road by a supporter on X on Thursday (6 June), Smyth responded, “Sounds like next week rather than this. Difficult to nail down an exact date when decisions are being made/discussed etc.”
However, the chief football writer at the Yorkshire Evening Post has now provided an update.
Smyth wrote via X on Friday (7 June), “Change of plan. Now expecting it today.”
Leeds United supporters close to answers at Elland Road
It looks as if Leeds fans won’t need to wait much longer for answers at Elland Road.
Plenty of other clubs across the country have already published their released and retained lists, and supporters of the Whites will be desperate to see their own.
They have had to wait for some time, and Smyth’s suggestion that fans might have to wait till next week would have likely caused some frustration.
However, his update on Friday suggests answers might now just be a matter of hours away.
While the reason for this sudden change of plan is unclear, supporters will just be happy they are getting some clarity.
After failing to achieve promotion to the Premier League, the futures of many stars at Elland Road are uncertain.
Fans can expect plenty of changes this summer, and when the released and retained lists are eventually published, that will give those fans a better idea of what those changes might be.
In other Leeds United news, the club are now ready to buy a defender from European title winners.
