Leeds United set to announce Georginio Rutter transfer soon

Leeds United are reportedly right on course to announce the club-record signing of Hoffenheim forward Georginio Rutter.

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Whites will be making the transfer official soon.

He’s already completed his medical and now all that’s left is for the clubs to make this move official and make him the second signing this month after Max Wober.

Via Twitter, Plettenberg wrote, “News #Rutter: Now it’s a done deal. It’s 100 %. Medical is already done! Total package of €40m with bonuses included. Contract until 2028. Rutter is a new #LUFC player! Announcement soon.”

Leeds have struggled to get signings over the line so efficiently in the past but it seems like they’ve done that with Rutter.

Given how they’ve operated in the past, we would’ve thought it might have taken them longer in order to get the job done.

Now that the medical is over, we do expect an announcement in the next 48 hours at the most as everything appears to be in place.

The sooner the announcement is made, the sooner he can make his debut for the club and give the Whites a good enough talisman to lead the line.

What this means for Patrick Bamford’s future remains to be seen as he’s clearly not performing up to the mark for Jesse Marsch’s side.

He might’ve bagged a goal against Aston Villa but there still are major concerns over his ability to stay fit for a considerable period of time and it’s not a gamble the Whites can afford to take.

In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has dropped a major update on World Cup star Azzedinie Ounahi’s potential January move to Elland Road.
