'England's finest' – BBC set to broadcast Leeds special on Sat as Ian Wright visits Thorp Arch

Leeds United fans have to wait until Monday night to see their side in action again in the Premier League but there’s something to keep you going over the weekend.

Ian Wright has visited Thorp Arch to record a Kalvin Phillips special that will go out on Saturday on Football Focus.

Wright himself trailed the special on his Twitter account, saying “Leeds United & England’s finest” and adding, “A beautiful day in Yorkshire with Kalvin Phillips.”

Kalvin Phillips posted a few more photos from the special, which will air at midday on Saturday on BBC 1.

What an honour for Phillips

It’s been some season for Phillips, who has taken the Premier League by storm and played himself into the England squad.

It will be a very proud moment to get one of the BBC’s flagship shows to devote a feature to him but it’s fully deserved.

He came close to leaving Leeds after we failed to get through the play-offs but a combination of Bielsa and his loyalty to the club kept him at Elland Road.

If we hadn’t been promoted last season he probably would have left, along with Bielsa, and it’s hard to imagine that sliding doors possibility.

Thankfully, it all worked out for Leeds, at a canter in the end, and Phillips has become one of the most talked-about defensive midfielders in the country.

We can’t wait to see the interview as Ian Wright chews the fat with the Yorkshire Pirlo.
