Leeds United sent message ahead of Premier League return v Manchester City and Newcastle
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has sent Leeds United a message ahead of their Premier League return against Manchester City and Newcastle.
After a lengthy layoff due to the FIFA World Cup, the Whites return to action against the Citizens on 28 December followed by a trip to Newcastle on 31 December.
Prutton confessed that Leeds United have been waiting 16 years for these kinds of games and whilst the City game will be extremely tough, the away trip to Newcastle promises to be “amazing”.
“Leeds spent 16 years yearning for games such as this and we have already seen how enjoyable they can be and how chastening they can be,” said Prutton as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“Wednesday’s home clash against Man City will obviously be extremely tough and Newcastle away on New Year’s Eve will be an amazing game.
“I have worked up there a lot since the takeover and it’s a completely different place now and they play a brand of football that at this moment in time deserves to be in the top four.
“That will be another very, very tough game but I don’t think you can look at these games as free hits and I don’t think Leeds are small enough to think that.”
Major League Marsch?
In terms of his coaching style, Marsch is known for his high-energy and demanding approach, which has helped to get the best out of his players and this has benefitted Leeds United at times.
He is also a forward-thinking coach who is not afraid to take risks and try new tactics in order to get results, but the Whites defensive frailties need to be sorted out.
The next month or so will be a crucial one in Marsch’s tenure as manager, big wins or results against City and Newcastle would go a long way towards cementing his spot at Elland Road.
There is definitely a more positive air surrounding the club at the moment, whether that is because there have been no Premier League games every week remains to be seen.
With luck, Marsch and Leeds United can now push on and finish the campaign in a strong league position, the players and talents are there, it’s just about tieing it all together now.
