Leeds United have officially sent out an SOS call to Javi Gracia as they look to remain in the Premier League this season, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [21 February, pg. 68] that the Whites have offered the Spaniard a four-month contract including a bonus for survival.

Described as “mayhem”, another option in the shape of Rafa Benitez appears to be holding out for another role, possibly West Ham United should David Moyes be sacked.

“Leeds sent out SOS to former Watford boss,” they wrote.

“Leeds United have opened talks with Javi Gracia as they look to appoint a manager with Premier League experience to guide them to safety.

“The club are offering a four-month deal with bonuses for keeping the team in the Premier League. Director of Football Victor Orta is under increasing pressure to find the right man, a fortnight after Jesse Marsch was sacked.”

Mayhem.

Why is it the Leeds United board only come to their senses when forced by the fans after the club is on course to hit rock bottom in the Premier League?

It happened with Alfred Schreuder and then with leaving Michael Skubala in charge for no apparent reason, their decision making can only be seen as embarrassing.

Leeds have been crying out for a new head coach or manager with new ideas, rather than sticking by the old methods that got Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch sacked.

Gracia may not be the first name on the lists of many, but he has a track record from saving Watford and then guding them to two comfortable mid-table seasons and an FA Cup final.

That is still possible this season with Leeds, with the right squad in place, just the mentality needing to change within the group with some fresh ideas.

This club has huge potential, it is just down to the right man bringing it out – hopefully that can be Gracia.
