Leeds United send scouts to watch Mykhaylo Mudryk shine in Champions League

Leeds United have continued to scout Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk as he shines in the Champions League, according to The Scotsman.

The Ukrainian champions were on the road at Parkhead on Tuesday evening (25 October) as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Scottish champions Celtic.

Mudryk was a class above the rest on the night and scored a sublime solo goal to equalise for Shakhtar and secure the point although he could have had an assist too if not for a dreadful miss by one of his teammates.

The Scotsman suggests, though, that Mudryk has been so good in the Champions League against very difficult opposition that he may have usurped a club like Leeds United.

They claim that Manchester City might be a side that should be taking a close look at the 21-year-old while they were also impressed by Celtic midfielder Matt O’Reilly, also 21.

All out

A winger might not be the first position Victor Orta and Leeds think they need to sign somebody but that should all become irrelevant if they get the genuine chance to sign Mudryk.

He is just such a good talent that no matter what the price may be, it will rapidly increase if he keeps performing to such incredible levels on big stages such as the Champions League and, maybe, the Premier League.

A door could well open for the Ukrainian international if Jack Harrison is pursued once more by Newcastle United after a failed attempt over the summer.

The Englishman has been very good on the whole this season but given the money that the Magpies may well offer up for his services, it would surely be worth selling him to fund a move for this wonderkid.

Orta could make himself an icon at Elland Road if he can pull it off as Mudryk will quickly become the star of the show in Yorkshire.

In other Leeds United news, Jeff Stelling has claimed two world-renowned managers could be on the Whites’ radar if Jesse Marsch is sacked.
