Leeds United send scouts as late January transfer twist emerges on Ali Al-Hamadi

Leeds United have scouted Wimbledon striker Ali Al-Hamadi throughout the current season with a late January twist on the cards, according to London News Online.

The online outlet has reported on its website that Championship promotion rivals Ipswich have made the first move with a bid just above £1million, but it may take double that to seal a move.

Al-Hamadi is currently away on Asia Cup duty with Iraq but may find himself on the move before the transfer deadline strikes on February 1.

Late push?

It is not clear if Leeds were impressed when they scouted Al-Hamadi, but their officials have been spotted around the Wimbledon striker, alongside others from the Championship.

Ipswich are currently desperate for a striker after an injury to George Hirst has left him sidelined for the majority of the season in the Championship promotion race.

Leeds, on the other hand, now has Patrick Bamford back and firing with Joel Piroe also making an impact when called upon, so their need is much lower.

When you look at the full-back positions and potentially in midfield, Daniel Farke may have more growing concerns in those areas with little time left in the window.

This is an interesting one though, and we will have to wait and see if Ipswich putting money on the table will force Leeds into action, it could happen.

Al-Hamadi is relatively untested, and Leeds needs someone to make an impact straight away, something that may make this unlikely before February 1.
