Leeds United: Russell Crowe hits back at Wrexham with 49ers Enterprises investment
Russell Crowe has hit back at suggestions that he has invested in Wrexham and admitted that he has a “very small” financial connection with Leeds United through 49ers Enterprises.
Rumours had suggested that Hollywood actor and Leeds supporter, Crowe had invested in Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s project with the League Two side after the Whites announced he was throwing an indoor garden party at Brudenell Social Club.
However, Crowe has quickly put an end to that rumour in a pointed response to one Leeds fan confirming that he invested financially in the 49ers takeover from former owner Andrea Radrizzani.
Writing on X on Monday (4 March) he said: “I don’t have any part of what’s going on in Wrexham man. I’m really impressed with Ryan and Rob, and what they are achieving, but I’m not part of that.
“I do however have a very small connection now financially to LUFC via the 49er family. So, yeah, exactly… but opposite.”
Leeds United and the 49ers building from the Premier League?
It’s safe to say Crowe made his point well via X and didn’t leave any doubts in any supporters’ minds, but it speaks volumes of just how much investment 49ers Enterprises have managed since they arrived at Elland Road.
The new Leeds United owners have been incredibly impressive since arriving at Elland Road and have played an immense part in the huge turnaround under Daniel Farke as they have backed the German well in the transfer window.
Whether or not they will have done enough to win automatic promotion back to the Premier League this season remains to be seen, but Leeds are now in a much better position now than they were under Radrizzani’s ownership.
Hopefully, Farke’s side will make the last steps and pip one of Ipswich Town or Leicester City to automatic promotion this season. That way, Crowe’s indoor garden part can serve as a bit of a promotion party as well.
