Leeds United: Robert Snodgrass shares new promotion verdict live on Sky Sports
Robert Snodgrass has backed Leeds United to go and win promotion to the Premier League after their 3-1 win against Hull on 1 April at Elland Road.
The Scotsman was analysing the Whites’ performances alongside David Prutton and Jobi McAnuff after late goals from Crysencio Summerville and Dan James sealed the win, saying that Leeds’ momentum will carry them over the line come the end of the season.
As Sky Sports Football posted on their official X account, Snodgrass said: “I feel that at this moment in time, the momentum has been with Ipswich who have won nine of their last 10, and Leeds who are flying.”
Leaders Ipswich and third-placed Leicester both came from behind to win on a hectic day of Easter Monday fixtures. Leeds matched them with a late victory, and Snodgrass thinks they have what it takes to stay the course, saying, “We speak about squad depth, we speak about character, and I’m going to go for Ipswich and Leeds.”
Easter Monday hoodoo ended at Elland Road as Leeds march on
Late wins for Ipswich and Leicester displaced Leeds in the Championship’s top two heading into their late kick-off against Hull, putting added pressure on the Whites whose woeful record on Easter Monday had seen them lose each of the last seven such matches, stretching back to 2011.
Hull equalised in the first half following Sam Byram’s opener in the ninth minute, giving way to a nervy, cagey encounter for much of the second period, but Summerville’s late penalty put the Whites back in front and James sealed the points in stoppage time from distance.

At this stage of the season, winning is the most important thing regardless of how the points come, and as Snodgrass mentioned, Ipswich and Leicester found ways to do just that before Leeds’ Yorkshire derby.
Leeds following suit in the dying minutes at Elland Road keeps them firmly in the hunt of an exceedingly tight promotion race, and it’s their ability to win late, win ugly, and win at all costs which will determine their fate as this extraordinary season goes down to the wire.
Earlier in the day, ex-Leeds boss Paul Heckingbottom gave his view on the pressure of this unique Championship promotion race.
