Leeds United reliance on player sales may change despite breaking news on financial accounts – Phil Hay

Phil Hay has insisted that Leeds United may use player sales to fund their own business in the upcoming summer.

The Athletic journalist has shared that with big interest coming in for Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, big sales are possible.

It comes on the same day [7th April] as the Whites posted a £5million profit for their latest financial account year.

Writing for The Athletic on Thursday [07 April], Hay shared the latest after the accounts were posted.

“Leeds have not used player sales to fund their own recruitment in the Premier League, though the summer ahead might change that if interest in Raphinha, Kalvin Phillips and others leads to offers that the club decide to accept,” he wrote.

“Their first Premier League window had the desired impact, setting them up for that ninth-place finish last May. Squad investment since then has been far less effective, resulting in a relegation fight this season.”

Money.

Andrea Radrizzani and the 49ers Enterprises will clearly have money to throw at Leeds this summer based on these accounts.

There will be a set budget going into the summer before any potential player exits, something which could see that figure soar.

Should Raphinha or Phillips be sold, it would be for more than £50million if we remain in the Premier League, and that is huge money.

With the 49ers also expected to up their stake, who knows what that could do to our budget for Jesse Marsch’s first window in charge.

One thing for sure is that Victor Orta will be licking his lips, let’s just hope he can do that without any player sales.
