Leeds United relegation prediction made as Sky Sports pundit makes unbelievable admission

Danny Higginbotham has stated his fears for Leeds United’s Premier League survival prospects despite it paining him, in a discussion for NBC Sports.

He said that Leeds will struggle without a top-class striker up front, as Sam Allardyce has been able to rely on previously when battling the drop at other clubs over the years.

Saturday’s clash against Newcastle United needs to bring a return of points for the Whites with just three games left in order to avoid relegation to the Championship.

The Sky Sports pundit, who featured most notably for Stoke City, Derby City, and Southampton during his career, provided his overview of the battle to avoid the drop with five clubs in the mire.

“Leeds, I really fear for them,” he said.

“They play Newcastle at home, West Ham away and then Spurs at home. I just think it’s gonna be too much for Leeds.

“It pains me to say it because I don’t like saying which teams are going to go down but if you’re asking me right now, I think Southampton as that is a given, and then Leicester City and Leeds United.

“It’s going to be unbelievably exciting as a neutral.”

Now or never

The situation is simple, Leeds to add points to their tally.

Allardyce needs to find a way to make it happen over the remaining trio of difficult fixtures with the first obstacle in the form of Eddie Howe’s rampant Magpies coming to Elland Road with their own need for points.

It isn’t quite a must-win game, depending on other results, but it is close to it. Time is running out fast.

Higginbotham was right to state that Allardyce has previously built his teams on defensive solidity but the Whites’ last clean sheet was on 22nd January, reflecting the extent of the task facing the veteran boss.

He got a decent return from his team in the second half last week against Manchester City, but it wasn’t enough to prevent another defeat.

The only thing that matters now is results, it is now or never for Leeds United to secure their Premier League status.
