Leeds United relegation chances shift in supercomputer prediction after Fulham defeat

Leeds are no strangers to the task that awaits them in the remaining 34 games of the season.

The possibility of relegation is going to remain at Leeds throughout the campaign, and results like that on Saturday will do little to subdue the fears.

Leeds fell to a late 1-0 defeat away to Fulham on Saturday, with Gabriel Gundmundsson’s bizarre own goal giving the hosts all three points.

The result means that the Whites remain at an average of one point per game, which is a good benchmark, though not where the Opta supercomputer is concerned.

Relegation likelihood increases after Fulham defeat

Leeds were among the favourites for relegation from the start of the season, though that was the case for all three newly-promoted teams, who have all had mixed starts.

Sunderland have picked up seven points from their opening four games, Burnley have picked up three with a game in hand against Liverpool, while the Whites have accumulated four in four.

Despite that, Leeds are still the most likely to avoid the drop of the promoted three, according to Opta’s latest supercomputer predictions.

Leeds’ record this season

With that said, it is now marginal, with Leeds’ chances of finishing in the bottom three increased from 40.64 per cent to 45.64 per cent after the defeat at Craven Cottage.

As things stand, Wolves are the most likely to go down, alongside Burnley and Sunderland, who are both expected to finish just one point behind Leeds.

Leeds will become favourites if Daniel Farke doesn’t address concerns

Goals are the issue for Leeds, who are yet to find the back of the net from open play since the start of the Premier League campaign.

Ultimately, it is one of the biggest issues you can have in football.

Farke needs to find a way to change their fortunes in front of goal if that is to change, though he may have to wait until January for the 49ers to provide him with the tools to achieve it.

Whether that will be too late or not remains to be seen, but it is already a clear priority for the enxt transfer window.
