Leeds United release retained list, Ezgjan Alioski offered new terms
Leeds United have released their retained list as their first year back in the Premier League has come to an end.
It was an amazing return for the Whites, who secured ninth place despite being away from the big time for over 16 years.
Ezgjan Alioski was the only player there were question marks surrounding but it has been shared that there is a new contract offer on the table.
There are plenty of names being released though.
Gaetano Berardi and Pablo Hernandez we knew were leaving, and the emotional farewell against West Brom was the perfect gesture from the club.
Senior players joining them include Eunan O’Kane, Ouasim Bouy and Barry Douglas who will move on once their deals expire next month.
Cole Gibbon, Niklas Haugland and Matthew Turner were all on professional terms at Thorp Arch, and they will also leave the club.
Farewell.
This is the Whites turning a new leaf this summer.
Although sad for some, most of these senior professionals were brought into the club when struggling in the Championship and for a short-term fix.
Only Berardi and Hernandez will be missed, but from a footballing perspective, they probably weren’t good enough for our next step of European football.
Alioski being offered a new deal has finally been confirmed.
The defender is now away with North Macedonia ahead of the EUROs, and he could finish that major tournament as a free agent; time will tell.
We hope he accepts, but this has been dragged out for far too long and must be solved.
