Leeds United receive Raphinha bid from Newcastle on June 30

Leeds United have reportedly received a transfer offer from Newcastle on the night of June 30 for attacker Raphinha.

According to Jijantes journalist Gerard Romero on July 1, Leeds have agreed to receive the payment of the Brazilian in three instalments from Barcelona.

He claims that there was an offer that came in from the Premier League side a night prior to when he reported the development of the Catalan side.

Romero wrote on Twitter, “Barca will pay the amount for Raphinha’s transfer in 3 instalments. The two clubs have agreed to these conditions.

“Last night (June 30) Leeds received an offer from Newcastle.”

Romero himself reported that Raphinha had turned down an offer from the Toons in the last few days, but the Whites have still received an offer from them.

No deal

The Toons have super rich owners and are looking to sign wingers this summer and have identified the Brazil international as an option.

While they can afford his wage demands as well as what Leeds want from his sale, the chances of them signing him are close to zero.

Raphinha surely would want to be compensated better but the main reason for him to leave is to challenge for trophies and play in the Champions League.

That’s precisely why he did not hurry into a deal to sign for Arsenal and waited for Chelsea and his preferred side Barcelona to come in.

Thus far, it seems a toss up between the Blues and the Spanish side and it could come down to whether or not the latter will be able to come up with the funds to sign him.

Leeds can afford to sit back and watch these sides rival each other for the Brazilian’s services while they can make the most possible money from his sale.

In other Leeds United news, the club have now opened talks with an ‘Incredible’ title-winning central midfielder to replace Kalvin Phillips.
