Leeds United have received a major boost in pursuit of Chelsea’s young centre-back Jake Clarke-Salter.
The Whites have been heavily linked [The Sun] with a move for the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window in order to boost their defensive unit ahead of the next campaign, with PSV among others interested.
On Friday, Chelsea confirmed that Clarke-Salter will leave Stamford Bridge after 16 years of association once his current contract comes to an end on June 30.
The Carshalton-born man is one of the four players to leave the London-based club in the summer including Andreas Christensen, Danny Drinkwater and Charly Musonda.
The signing of defenders is exactly what the doctor ordered for United ahead of the next campaign as they were one of the worst defensive sides in the recently-concluded Premier League season.

Therefore, the recent development must be an encouraging one for the club’s top-tier management as the option the Stamford Bridge club had to extend his deal has not been taken up and he is available on a free transfer.
The player’s situation was complicated in recent months by the fact the Blues were operating under the sanctions imposed on previous owner Roman Abramovich.
During the last campaign, the England U21 international represented Coventry City in 31 appearances across all competitions where he received just six yellow cards [Transfermarkt], which shows that his position was immaculate, something which would excite the Elland Road faithful.
