Leeds United really keen on Brendan Rodgers as Daniel Farke impresses in new manager talks

Brendan Rodgers is the manager that Leeds United really want to appoint this summer, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist has shared a brand new update on June 13 with the 49ers Enterprises making moves after their takeover, although the former Leicester man will not be easy to convince.

Daniel Farke is another manager who has held talks with the club, and the German is said to have impressed after his first meeting.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Hay shared the latest news coming from Elland Road as early as Tuesday morning with fans now anxiously waiting.

“Trying to wrap up manager process this week,” he said.

“Rodgers they really want but not easy to persuade. Farke impressed initial discussions. Director of Football/Players? Won’t develop until after they sort head coach.”

Desperate.

It appears as though the 49ers have set their sights firmly on Rodgers and are trying everything they can to get a deal over the line for his appointment.

With his former side Celtic sniffing around, who can offer Champions League football, it depends whether he wants that challenge, or the project of new owners and taking Leeds back to the big time.

Yes, Celtic are a huge club but his ambitions must be higher than returning to Scotland and taking the easy route of near-guaranteed success after leaving there for Leicester all those years ago.

Leeds, with brand new owners and cash to spend could be huge for Rodgers, who could re-build his reputation after it took a little hit at the Foxes last season.

Of course, there is the added carrot of winning promotion over his former club too, with Leeds’ huge fan base ready to welcome him with open arms.

Time will tell what happens, but it also appears as though Farke is catching the eye – it looks to be a two-horse race, let’s hope we find out the winner sooner rather than later.
