Leeds United ready for £21.3m Arnaud Kalimuendo as Paris Saint-Germain need to shift him

Paris Saint-Germain need to move forwards on including Leeds United target and preseason star Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to AS.

The 20-year-old impressed new manager Christophe Gaultier with his performance against Quevelly on Friday (15 July), and scored what proved to be the winner against Kawasaki Frontale on Wednesday night (20 July), but is still apparently headed for the exit.

Club advisor Luis Campos wants to continue in his attempts to sign Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, after already bringing in Hugo Ekitike from Reims, and has identified Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos as an alternative if the Italian remains too expensive.

As such Kalimuendo will have to be shifted, along with Mauro Icardi, and the Whites could therefore get him for €25million.

United have been chasing Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge as their first choice forward option, but will only stand any chance if his preferred choice AC Milan fail to agree a deal.

Jesse Marsch admitted on Wednesday that while that pursuit was not completely dead, they expect the Belgian not to be available, and the PSG man is one of the main alternatives.

Power struggle

There looks to be a difference of opinion at the French champions, with the coach apparently minded to keep hold of the young striker.

The France under-21 international has spent the last two seasons on loan at Lens, scoring a total of 21 times for them, while only making a handful of senior appearances in the capital.

But the club also recruited the influential Campos this summer, who appears to favour getting rid of some of the club’s incumbent forward options in order to make new additions.

If Kalimuendo continues to perform strongly in the preseason even he might change his mind, but with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi the headliners it is difficult to see how many opportunities the youngster would get in official games.

In a face-off between Galtier and Campos it seems likely that the latter’s view would take precedence as the senior position.

The Whites seem likely to be the beneficiaries of such a situation since they are clearly the most prominent suitors, despite wide interest from Ligue 1 and the Premier League [90min].

However, the longer it drags on the less time Marsch will get to work with him before the new season starts if he is to arrive.

in other Leeds United news, an insultingly low offer for one Whites ace looks to have no chance of success despite the player adding to speculation.
