Leeds United ready to sack Javi Gracia after talks in last 12 hours

Javi Gracia is reportedly set to be sacked by Leeds United after talks on Monday afternoon, 1 May, which continued late into the night.

According to Times Sport print edition on 2 May, the discussions led to the conclusion that the Whites were ready to part ways with the Spaniard despite appointing him just two and a half months ago.

Along with him, director of football Victor Orta’s position at the club is also under scrutiny given the club’s league position and their transfer spend over the summer and January as well.

Who replaces him?

With only four games left, the new manager is going to have to work wonders and get a tune out of these players from the word go.

It needs to be someone else as the likes of Michael Skubala and co were given the chance before appointing Gracia and they didn’t do anything to prove they deserved the job.

There have been a number of names linked with a Marcelo Bielsa reunion mooted and also the fact that former Everton and Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez may be willing to take charge at Elland Road.

Both pose interesting options but the former appears to be very unrealistic given the nature of his departure and the fact that the club has gotten worse since he left.

Benitez may be a good short-term option as he can tighten up this defence and command the respect of the dressing room.

He’s won a Champions League and that will immediately be a huge feather in his cap and hopefully, the board goes for an appointment like that or someone who can deliver quick results.

In other Leeds United news, an exit-bound senior player was spotted in tears after what happened recently.
