Leeds United ready to make financial efforts to sign Azzedine Ounahi, bid accelerates

Leeds United are ready to make “financial efforts” to sign Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, according to journalist Seb Ecrivain foot.

The French journalist, who is the deputy editor of the magazine Les Bons Conseils Du Bet, shared on Twitter (13 January) that the Whites have intensified their approach to bring him to Elland Road this month.

Telefoot journalist Saber Desfarges reported on 8 January that the Whites have submitted a £22 million bid to sign the Angers midfielder.

“Leeds accelerates to secure the services of Moroccan star Azzedine Ounahi. The club is ready to make financial efforts to win this case,” he wrote on Twitter.

Ounahi dazzled for Morocco during the World Cup in Qatar, and there are a lot of interest in signing him this month.

Usually, it is not a smart idea to sign a player based on performance in international competitions, but this is a different case.

In Victor Orta’s own admission [16 December, Spanish outlet Marca, as transcribed by Yorkshire Evening Post], the club has been keeping tabs on him for the last two years, and he has been left “surprised” by the progress shown by the midfielder.

Therefore it doesn’t come as a big surprise that the Whites have intensified their approach to sign the midfielder who has got his best years ahead of him.

Leeds have been very active in the winter market. They have already secured the signing of Max Wober from RB Salzburg, and have reached an agreement for Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter as well.

The Whites still feel the need to bolster their midfield areas after Mateusz Klich left the club to join DC United this month. With several clubs vying for Ounahi’s signature, it would be a great coup if Leeds can pull off the deal.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are keen on signing this Wolves player in January.
