Leeds United are considering the future of Jesse Marsch at Elland Road, with his sacking now potentially on the cards, according to Santi Aouna.

The Foot Mercato journalist has reported that a shortlist with several names has already been finalised in West Yorkshire, with some key games to come.

Marsch took his press conference as usual on Tuesday 17 January, with Cardiff City the next opponent in the FA Cup third-round replay.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Aouna shared the latest news on the future of the American which now appears to be in doubt at Elland Road.

“Info: Jesse Marsch,” he wrote. “According to our information, the leaders of Leeds are considering replacing the American technician.

“Even if nothing is yet recorded, the Peacocks have already established a short list of several names.”

Is this the answer?

While patience is wearing thin in the stands, it is hard to imagine that this is the way to go right now.

Of course, we didn’t pick up any points against Aston Villa, but that was the best football we have seen all season, and it is not like this squad looks as though it has given in.

With games against Brentford and Nottingham Forest coming up though, if four points minimum are not picked up, then real questions need to be asked.

Marsch talks a very good game, we all know that, but that means nothing if he doesn’t back it up on the pitch and with players coming back from injury, now is the perfect time.

Georginio Rutter has been added to the squad, Patrick Bamford and Luis Sinsterra are nearly back to 100%, there are simply no excuses for the American.

In many ways, the game with Cardiff is perfect at Elland Road as the FA Cup replay can be used to get a big win on board with numerous goals and build confidence.

The Premier League is what matters though, and the future of Marsch will solely depend on that.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now seeking their third signing of the month with a European contract rebel in their sights.
