Leeds United reach verbal agreement to hire Daniel Farke – Sky Sports journalist

Daniel Farke and Leeds United have now reached a verbal agreement for the German to take over as the new head coach, according to Marlon Irlbacher.

The Sky Sports journalist tweeted (29 June) that the former Gladbach coach is close to taking over the managerial position at Elland Road.

The decision comes after a long and extensive search which began officially over three weeks ago when Sam Allardyce left after just 25 days in charge (Sky Sports, 2 June).

“According to Sky Sports Germany information, there is a verbal agreement between Leeds United and the ex-Gladbach coach about working together from the coming season,” Irlbacher wrote.

“Farke would be working as a coach in England for the second time after his time at Norwich City.”

Finally

At times it felt as if this managerial search was never going to end.

However, it now seems as if Leeds fans are in the end game and a new man is close to being appointed. Countless names have been mentioned, with many big managers linked to the job but it seems the club has finally settled on a decision.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke

In Farke the Whites are making a smart hire. The 46-year-old has twice led Norwich to promotion from the Championship and is more than capable of doing the same again with Leeds.

He might not be the most exciting manager of the names that have been suggested for the job but he is a manager who fans can trust to get the job done.

Of course, this is just a verbal agreement and many will have their fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong now otherwise it is back to square one.

It shouldn’t, but in football, you just never know!
