Leeds United reach full agreement with Crysencio Summerville, Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt for new contracts

Leeds United have reached a full agreement with Crysencio Summerville on a new contract until 2026, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Whites have also agreed terms with Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt on new long-term deals to keep them at Elland Road for the next portion of their careers.

Phil Hay reported on Monday [August 1] that the club were hopeful of finalising deals with the trio this week, and Romano shared on his personal Twitter account that it has all now been completed today with an announcement set to come “very soon”.

Summerville’s contract had entered it’s final year and the club will be delighted that he has agreed terms to renew, considering he was close to leaving the club on loan in January for more regular football.

Gelhardt’s current contract was set to run until 2024, while Greenwood’s current contract was set to expire at the end of the current season too with Summerville.

Huge

That is brilliant news for Leeds, with all three youngsters on the verge of making a real impact on the first-team under manager Jesse Marsch.

Gelhardt has already made himself a big member of the squad with his performances last season during the relegation battle when Patrick Bamford was out injured, while Marsch has publicly praised Greenwood for picking up his instructions quicker and better than everyone else.

Summerville’s situation was slightly different though, with his first-team football limited because of the options in the squad and his lack of experience.

Loan moves were mooted in January but Marcelo Bielsa blocked them. Marsch has however made him part of the first-team squad regularly now and he is obviously convinced that he will play more regularly.

A new deal ties down some excellent talent for Elland Road for coming seasons and fans can be delighted to know they will be developing here instead.

In other Leeds news, the club should move for a new signing ASAP after making a big decision on Sunday
