Leeds United: RB Salzburg respond to react to Max Wober transfer

Red Bull Salzburg have responded to Max Wober’s transfer to Leeds United on Tuesday (3 January) with a witty remark on their official Twitter account.

The 24-year-old penned a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Whites for an undisclosed fee and will look to add further depth to the Whites’ leaky defensive line. [BBC Sport]

Since his move to Elland Road, Marsch has raided his former employers of their brightest talents, signing both Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen in the summer and now snapping up Wober.

Replying to Leeds United’s official announcement of the transfer, RB Salzburg were quick to give the centre-back their best wishes.

“Some things never change,” the club’s Twitter account quipped.

“Jokes aside, enjoy Maxi.”

RB Salzburg will be sick of the sight of Leeds United after their most recent swoop for one of their prized assets.

Firstly their ex-manager joined the club, then playmaker Aaronson and defender Kristensen, and finally, Wober. It has proven a successful scouting destination for Victor Orta so far, so why not carry on in the same vein?

Wober is a capable centre-back who can also operate at left-back when needed and should be able to strengthen Leeds’ somewhat shaky back-line.

Getting this business over the line early in the transfer window is a promising sign for Leeds, and fans will hope Wober is the first signing of many to come.

Whether Wober will be dropped straight into the problematic left-back berth is yet to be known, but if he is capable of taking up the full-back position, it will allow Pascal Struijk to shift back to his preferred centre-back position.
