Leeds United raved about by Jamie Carragher after epic first half v Aston Villa

Leeds United took part in possibly the best 45 minutes of Premier League football all season against Aston Villa in the first half of the 3-3 draw at Villa Park on Wednesday night.

Pundits across the footballing world were raving about Marcelo Bielsa’s side and their exciting brand of football, including former Liverpool defender, turned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.

The Liverpudlian couldn’t contain his love for watching the Whites and took to Twitter to make sure everybody knew about it.

“I love watching Leeds!” Carragher tweeted after a Dan James brace was cancelled out by Jacob Ramsey’s own pair of goals and a Phillipe Coutinho strike to give Villa the lead at half-time.

Too much attacking

Leeds are undoubtedly a fantastic watch for the neutral, but for Whites supporters, it isn’t really good enough.

Bielsa has always deployed this full-throttle, non-stop running system during his time at Elland Road and it did bring him great success in the Championship and his first year in the Premier League.

But now it is getting exposed and they cannot keep attacking the way they are when they are unable to keep the ball out of their own net at the other end.

They need to tone down the crazy headless chicken-esque running and become a more difficult team to beat because they are not one of the better teams in the league anymore.

With the injuries that have been suffered by the squad too, it should be even more warning signs to the manager that he needs to change.

But Bielsa is suffering from his own stubbornness and the Whites are suffering with him.

Relegation is not out of the question if they keep playing as exposed as they are in defence.

In other Leeds United news, Rio Ferdinand was in awe of this Leeds ace during BT Sport’s coverage of the Aston Villa game.
