Leeds United punishment update emerges after FA investigation into Hannibal Mejbri controversy

Leeds United will not face any sanction from the FA after missiles were allegedly thrown toward Hannibal Mejbri, according to Leeds Live.

The news outlet reported online (11 October) that the FA were satisfied the Whites took appropriate measures before and after the game to deter such incidents.

Mejbri allegedly had missiles thrown toward him as Burnley beat Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road (14 September).

The ex-Manchester United player could be seen aggravating Leeds supporters as he left the pitch.

Leeds United avoid punishment after Hannibal Mejbri controversy

Mejbri was certainly guilty of irritating Leeds supporters after and during Burnley’s win at Elland Road.

As an ex-Manchester United player, he was always going to evoke a stronger reaction from the Elland Road faithful. His actions were so frustrating, that an ex-FIFA official urged the FA to punish the player.

They instead chose to investigate Leeds and the club’s supporters. As a result, Daniel Farke would have been anxious about any potential punishment.

However, it looks as though the club have avoided any sanctions and can now move on from the unfortunate incident.

Whether or not a player has aggravated fans, there is never an excuse for objects to be thrown toward the pitch. Therefore, the Whites and Farke will be delighted by the outcome of this investigation.

However, while punishment has been avoided, the tension will no doubt remain. Therefore, it will be very interesting to see what happens next time Mejbri makes his way to Elland Road.
