Leeds United propose new backroom role for Lucas Radebe

Angus Kinnear has confirmed that Leeds United are “working on a proposal” that would see Lucas Radebe move into an ambassadorial role.

The news was released in the latest SAB meeting minutes (20 November) where the club discussed several off-field matters on 5 November.

Radebe, having featured for the Whites throughout an 11 year spell from 1994, looks set to start a new role at Elland Road.

The meeting minutes read: “Katie (Watkins) asks about Lucas Radebe’s relationship with the club going forward. AK says club is working on a proposal for ambassadorial agreements.”

Lucas Radebe suited for an ambassadorial role at Leeds United

When it comes to club legends at Leeds, Radebe is certainly right up there having made over 250 appearances for the Whites during a spell that lasted 11 years between 1994 and 2005.

Ultimately, Radebe would play his final game for the club in 2005 before hanging up his boots.

His strong affiliation and connection with the club puts him in excellent stead to have a positive impact if the ambassadorial role comes to fruition and his relationship with the Leeds faithful will only benefit things going forward.

The former Leeds star was in attendance for the Whites’ Yorkshire encounter with Sheffield United last month, where he was brought onto the pitch at halftime and received an excellent reception as expected.

His potential role as club ambassador is just one of several updates the club have provided supporters in their latest meeting with season ticket waiting lists another key topic discussed.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could make a huge promotion statement if they are able to finalise a deal for Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill.
