Leeds United promotion chances revealed by supercomputer after Sheff Weds win

Leeds United are predicted to walk to the Championship title this season after the win against Sheffield Wednesday, according to Opta Analyst.

The Opta Analyst’s supercomputer predicts the Whites will be clear frontrunners to win the second division after the 3-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday (19 January).

Although Danny Rohl believes it is “unfair” to compare the sides due to the financial differences, the gulf in class was apparent at Elland Road.

Following the result, the Whites’ chances of winning the title, as per the supercomputer, have increased from 41.14 per cent to 49.56 per cent, with a 77.92 per cent chance of securing promotion.

Leeds United have Premier League in their sights

Daniel Farke will be all too pleased to continue his march through the Championship, but the battle at the top is fierce.

Only one point separates Leeds from Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United, whereas third-place Burnley trail by three points, and Sunderland remains five points adrift of top spot in fourth.

The Whites are far and away the most complete side in the second tier, but there is one glaringly obvious flaw Farke must address before his side’s promotion aspirations are realised.

Although they boast the best home record in the Championship, with 11 wins, two draws, and one loss in 14 outings, their away form leaves much to be desired.

As per Soccer Stats, Leeds have picked up 21 points from an available 33 on the road, which is slightly underwhelming considering United’s position in the league.

The Opta Analyst supercomputer predicts Leeds United will win the Championship.

Furthermore, fresh injury concerns are threatening to dampen their progress as leader Pascal Struijk suffered a new setback and will be out of action for the next three weeks.

It will be interesting to see how Farke adapts with his squad thinning each week – Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell stepped up when Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev suffered lengthy injury layoffs – with the boss possibly needing another hero to step up in the absence of Struijk.
