Leeds United promotion chances revealed by Supercomputer after Oxford win

Leeds United are now predicted to finish as runners-up in the Championship with Sheffield United tipped to win the title, as per Opta Analyst.

The Whites currently sit three points behind Sheffield United who have recently been boosted by the confirmation of their takeover.

Daniel Farke’s side secured an emphatic victory over Oxford last time out but it wasn’t enough to sway the Supercomputer, which has predicted Leeds to finish second.

Leeds are expected to finish on 89 points, with a 33.12 per cent chance of winning the title in comparison to the 91 points expected of Sheffield Utd who have a 47.16 per cent chance of winning the division.

Leeds United need to maintain consistency

Ultimately, a second-place finish would still see an automatic return to the Premier League for Leeds although they will certainly have ambitions of pipping Sheffield United to the title.

The one thing that remains clear is that failure to achieve promotion through any means would be a failure by the club and in order to achieve it, consistency will prove key.

Leeds have suffered a few setbacks so far this season with several instances of dropped points and that is something that will need to be ironed out ahead of the second half of the season.

With an encounter against Stoke on Boxing Day, the Whites have the chance to make it four wins from their last five which would be seen as an impressive return given the hectic schedule that ensues around Christmas time.

Much of their ability to maintain consistency may hinge on the business they can do during the January transfer window in a month that is likely to paint a clear picture of the Championship promotion race.
