Leeds United promotion chances predicted by supercomputer after Burnley draw

Leeds United are still in pole position to achieve promotion back to the Premier League despite their goalless draw with Burnley on Monday night, according to Opta Analyst.

Daniel Farke’s side could only secure a point at Turf Moor in their 0-0 draw on 27 January but according to the latest predictions, not much has changed in the promotion picture.

A poor level of finishing was on display against the Clarets and Leeds may feel as though they could have done more to secure all three points but the supercomputer still has the Whites with a 60.16 per cent chance of winning the Championship.

Leeds are predicted to hit 93 points by the end of the campaign with a remarkable 86.10 per cent chance of promotion, almost 22 per cent higher than any other side in the league.

Leeds United must showcase a ruthless mentality in games

The clash between the two on Monday was hardly one for the neutrals, with both sides combined managing just one attempt on goal, with neither side looking overly threatening.

Perhaps, given the competition at the top end of the table, a cagey affair was to be expected but very few would have imagined the lack of quality in the final third from the duo.

However, if Leeds are to maintain their spot at the summit of the Championship, that lack of finishing ability can’t be repeated, with some vital games rapidly approaching.

With Sheffield United and Sunderland still to play, if Leeds fail to offer a threat in those encounters, there is every chance they could lose some ground in the race for promotion and it could prove costly come the end of the season.

Leeds really need to utilise the remainder of the transfer window if they are to keep up their chase.
