Leeds United preference shared as Helder Costa linked with Turkey transfer

Leeds United prefer to deal with a Turkish club as the plan is to cash in on Helder Costa this summer, according to Ben Jacobs.

The CBS Sports journalist told Give Me Sport that the interest is not as much for the 29-year-old and he did not move to Saudi either.

Turkish clubs have made enquiries to sign him and an exit is on the cards ahead of the 14 September deadline there.

Jacobs said, “There hasn’t been that much interest in Costa. There had been a few Saudi enquiries, and also in Turkey. We need to wait and see what happens. There’s a possibility that he will leave for sure.

“On the Saudi side, he received an approach about three weeks ago from Al-Taawoun, and Al-Shabab, under their old board, had explored a deal. We’ve seen a couple of Turkish clubs also make enquiries too. So, I think Leeds’ preference would be to find a solution there.”

Get it done

Leeds made a mistake by not doing enough in the English window and also until the Saudi window was open.

They could’ve at least opened negotiations with the clubs that showed an interest and done their best to convince Costa to leave.

It’s clear that clubs in Saudi will offer more than what those in Turkey will for the 29-year-old.

He’s even played a year in the Pro League so they’re well aware of what he can and can’t offer there.

He joined Leeds for £16million which is not really cheap and they’ll want to make at least something from his sale.

It remains to be seen how much he does end up leaving for if he does join a Turkish club this summer.
