Leeds United predicted XI v Cardiff City: Jack Harrison to miss out with Max Wober starting

Leeds United will take on Cardiff City on Sunday January 8 in the third round of the FA Cup with Jesse Marsch expected to shuffle his pack.

Staying in the Premier League certainly will be the priority for the Whites, but a cup run is a special feeling and one the Whites fans haven’t experienced in a while.

That said, it’ll be interesting to see how the American manages to field a strong side which should ideally beat their lower league opponents while also not exerting too many of the first-team players.

In his pre-match press conference, Marsch mentioned that Jack Harrison was not at a hundred percent, so there’s a good chance that he will not be risked for this game.

Via LeedsLive, he said, “Still physically not at 100 per cent. Playing him 90 and starting both, we made the decision to protect him. Performed well at Newcastle and really well couple of nights ago.”

This probably means that both Crysenscio Summerville and Willy Gnonto will be started and played for 60 minutes before being taken off either for Harrison, if he makes the bench, or one of the youngsters.

Sam Greenwood has fared well in an attacking midfield position and we see him coming in along with Darko Gyabi who completely missed the game for the under-21s against Nottingham Forest on Friday.

This means that Tyler Adams can get rest for this one with Marc Roca in the middle of the park along with the summer signing from Manchester City.

Defensively, it’s a complete overhaul with the entire back five being changed.

As Liam Cooper has played through the festive period and has struggled to an extent, he could be rested with Max Wober thrown straight into the mix.

Junior Firpo will also have a point to prove as well Diego Llorente as the duo are no longer guaranteed starters and they should use this game to show why they deserve to be playing more.

In goal, Illan Meslier is expected to be handed a rest with Joel Robles coming in for him.

In other Leeds United, the Whites are closely involved in the bidding for an international striker and are even prepared to spend £14million to secure his services.
