Leeds United ponder bid to seal Charlie Taylor transfer – Phil Hay

Leeds United are pondering over a potential bid to sign Burnley defender Charlie Taylor, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist has shared the news which may be considered as controversial by many given how the former Elland Road star eventually left the club.

Taylor has just earned promotion to the Premier League under Vincent Kompany but did play the majority of the season in a central role at Turf Moor.

Ryan Manning is another who has been consistently linked, with the defender having become a free agent at the end of the last season from Swansea.

With Junior Firpo expected to move on, Leeds are certainly in the market to bring in a new fresh face in that area that has haunted them for so long.

Controversial.

That is exactly what this would be, given that Taylor practically went on strike to leave the club.

It was Garry Monk in charge when the left-back refused to play in the final game of the season against Wigan Athletic, finally forcing his move to Turf Moor after that.

Since then, the defender hasn’t exactly picked up a warm reception when facing the Whites in the Premier League, and that would split opinion.

Given the horror shows we have seen at left-back since the exit of Ezgjan Alioski though, signing someone who is known to excel in that role would tick a lot of boxes.

Burnley may also have shown signs that they are happy to let Taylor move on after promotion, given that Leeds are readying a potential bid, they only have to let it go.

This is a very interesting one to watch, it could be very controversial.
