Leeds plot £12m+ move for winger in second raid, Bielsa long-term admirer – report

Leeds United are plotting a sensational second raid for Manchester United winger Daniel James, according to the Sun.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the Whites believe they could seal a move for the Welsh international for £12million plus add-ons.

Marcelo Bielsa is a long-term admirer and is in the market for a player who can feature both outwide and as a playmaker.

James has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford after an exciting start to life at the Red Devils last season.

The 22-year-old has been replaced by the likes of Mason Greenwood and could be made available for a switch this season.

It is suggested that James could be tempted by a move to Elland Road if they launch a second raid, either on loan or a permanent deal.

Leeds had all-but-completed a move for the former Swansea winger back in 2018, until the Welsh club pulled the plug, leaving Victor Orta and the Whites devastated.

James started the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on Saturday but was dragged off at half time by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 22-year-old had one shot on goal, but only completed 24 passes according to WhoScored – delivering no crosses in the game which isn’t good enough.

Manchester United spent £18million at the beginning of last season, so there would be doubt over whether or not they would agree a cut-price deal so soon after to let him leave.
