Leeds United player’s dad to join Celtic in prominent role after Wilfried Nancy appointment
Kwame Ampadu, the father of Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu, is set to join Wilfried Nancy’s coaching staff at Celtic.
Nancy was confirmed as Celtic’s new manager on Wednesday, joining to Scottish giants from Columbus Crew on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The Frenchman’s first game in charge will be against Hearts at Celtic Park on Sunday, with that a top-of-the-table showdown north of the border.
And it now looks as though Ampadu senior will be part of Nancy’s coaching staff in Glasgow.

Kwame Ampadu to join Wilfried Nancy’s coaching staff at Celtic
Kwame Ampadu previously worked alongside Nancy as assistant coach at Major League Soccer side Columbus Crew.
As per Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph via X on Wednesday, the 54-year-old will now link up with Nancy again, this time in Scotland.
Jules Gueguen and Maxime Chalier are also set to move across from the Crew to Celtic.
It will see Kwame closer to son Ethan, who is a fan favourite at Elland Road – even more so after playing a part in Leeds’ 3-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday.
Ethan Ampadu speaks out on Daniel Farke future after Chelsea win
Ampadu has been walking a disciplinary tightrope at Leeds but has thankfully avoided a fifth yellow card in his past two outings.
Ampadu, who recently captained Wales, played the full 90 minutes as Leeds stunned Chelsea at Elland Road on Wednesday.
That win lifts the pressure on boss Daniel Farke, and Ampadu shared his thoughts on the German after the game.
“No matter who is here, we are behind everyone,” he told Sky Sports. “Everyone is on board, players and staff.
“We worked so hard to get to this position the last two years. Now we are here, we want to achieve together.”
Farke will now almost certainly oversee Leeds’ clash with Liverpool on Saturday evening, with the Whites out of the relegation zone thanks to the win over Chelsea.
A trip to Brentford follows, before a home clash with Crystal Palace and an away game with Sunderland either side of Christmas.
