Leeds United plan new player investment in ‘ambitious’ Monday transfer update in response to exodus

Leeds United are “ambitious” in the transfer market this summer and are planning to “invest in new players” despite a host of names possibly leaving, according to the Daily Mail.

The Whites may have a lot of gaps to fill with exit clauses continuing to emerge that could see numerous first team names depart on loan or for small fees.

Rasmus Kristensen is on the brink of joining Roma along with teammate Diego Llorente, while the likes of Tyler Adams, Willy Gnonto and Brenden Aaronson are attracting interest from within the Premier League.

But with the 49ers regime taking control from Andrea Radrizzani there are plans afoot to make a splash in the opposite direction too.

Simon Jones writes of incomings in Monday’s (26 June) Daily Mail Transfer Confidential: “Leeds are still ambitious to invest in new players and get out of the division but the clauses expose them to becoming severely depleted.”

Rough with the smooth

Exits were always something that Leeds United were going to need to deal with following relegation, and while numerous departures aren’t ever comfortable this is a squad which badly underperformed and needed a revamp anyway.

The fact that it appears there might not be anything like the expected windfall on the way that would have helped compensate such an exodus is more disappointing.

But with the incoming owners thought to want to announce their arrival with moves in the market those plans shouldn’t be too far away now.

Quite how much of a bare-bones squad they will need to augment remains to be seen but there seems to be sufficient interest in most of the expected names that there will be a lot of new arrivals needed.

Some returning loanees, such as Cody Drameh and Charlie Cresswell, should be added to the first-team set up properly, but new signings once the manager is finally announced should put a more positive spin on the summer.

The 49ers are expected to have more of a transfer budget available than Radrizzani would have, but if little is brought in thanks to the exit-clauses it remains to be seen how much can be spent.

In other Leeds United news, a club has failed to trigger the exit clause of one player who could leave this summer.
