Phil Hay shares major update on Mateusz Klich Leeds United future

Phil Hay has shared a major update on the future of Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich after the Whites’ 2-1 friendly win over Real Sociedad on 16 December.

Klich has been linked with a move to the MLS in recent weeks to join Wayne Rooney’s DC United, however, no deal for the maestro has yet been confirmed. [MLS Soccer]

Hay relayed news from a Rene Maric post-match press conference where the assistant coach was asked about Klich’s future at Leeds United.

“I’m the wrong person to ask that question,” said Maric as quoted by Hay on Twitter.

“There is nothing decided in either direction.”

Interesting.

Klich got given the nod to start by Jesse Marsch in the Real Sociedad friendly on 16 December and this could be an indication towards the maestro staying put.

After all, his biggest qualm with Leeds United has seemed to be his lack of playing time at the club this season, something that could easily be changed by Marsch.

And most fans would be more than happy with Klich staying at the club, his move away seems a bit too rushed for anyone’s liking right now.

The midfielder can still be a useful cog within the Leeds United squad and with the Premier League calendar set to get extremely hectic, tried and tested players like himself will be needed.

Nevertheless, it would also be understandable if Klich wanted to look for playing time elsewhere, Marsch simply hasn’t used him enough this campaign.

All in all, everyone will have their fingers crossed that Klich stays at least until the end of the season, it only seems right given his contributions to the club over the last few years.

In other Leeds United news, talks are underway over this player quitting Elland Road for a high-paid contract.
