Phil Hay shares major Leeds United injury news as player drops outs v Real Sociedad
Phil Hay was the bearer of bad Leeds United news on December 16 after he revealed Jack Harrison was out of the starting line up against Real Sociedad.
Harrison has only just made his comeback to the Leeds United first-team, making his first appearance since dropping out against Spurs for the Whites in their friendly win over Elche.
Hay confessed that Wilfried Gnonto had come into the lineup to replace Harrison against Sociedad after the Englishman was suffering from “a bit of tightness”.
“Willy Gnonto coming into the starting line-up for Harrison, who is suffering from a bit of tightness,” revealed Hay on Twitter.
Oh dear, is this the start of another injury cycle for old Harrison?
Harrison’s potential injury is annoying, to say the least, especially when you consider he has only just made a return to the first team.
In true Leeds United fashion, you can’t really expect anything less. And the injury gods just don’t seem to be on the Whites’ side this season.
Nevertheless, young Italian Gnonto now has the chance to shine under the bright lights of Elland Road and with Crysencio Summerville also on the sidelines, the wonder can assert his authority in this Leeds team.
Fans have been crying out for Gnonto to be given more of a chance, his flair and pace have made Leeds United’s attack look frightening again and hopefully, this can be the start of a sustained run in the team.
It’s unclear why Marsch hasn’t chosen to start the youngster in this friendly and the last, especially considering his performances in the club’s last Premier League fixtures.
Tonight’s the night for Willy to make a proper name for himself.
In other Leeds United news, talks are underway over this player quitting Elland Road for a high-paid contract.
