Leeds United: Phil Hay reveals Patrick Bamford issue as problem emerges before win v Swansea
Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford developed a problem just before kick-off against Swansea City on Tuesday (13 February).
That is according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, with the journalist noting on X that Daniel Farke has explained that the issue is not totally clear.
Hay added that Bamford needs to be assessed, with the striker having been withdrawn from the starting XI moments before the match started.
“Bamford developed a problem 10/15 mins before kick-off,” Hay wrote on X. “Farke says it’s not totally clear what the problem is with him yet. He’ll need assessed. Farke very pleased with the way Leeds coped with the late change to his line-up.”
Leeds United cope without Bamford
Farke was forced into a very late change for the trip to the Swans, with the manager bringing in Joel Piroe for Bamford just before kick-off.
And the visitors certainly didn’t miss the injured man, with Piroe scoring after just 10 minutes, although by that point they had already gone 1-0 up through Crysencio Summerville.
Their fellow forward Wilfried Gnonto then piled the misery on Swansea with a double, with the ruthless attacking display certain to have delighted Farke on the sidelines.
The manager will leave South Wales very happy indeed, although he will be very frustrated at the issue for Bamford, particularly with the striker’s history.
Other than that, it was a superb night for the Whites, who moved second in the Championship table after Southampton fell to a shock 3-1 loss at Bristol City.

Farke’s men can continue their stunning run of form when they travel to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (17 February), although as shown time and again, nothing comes easy in this competition.
