Phil Hay reacts to Alfred Schreuder sighting at Leeds United team hotel
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has shared that Alfred Schreuder was spotted at the Leeds United team hotel yesterday amidst growing speculation that he will be the Whites’ new head coach.
The Telegraph reported on 12 February that Schreuder was the new frontrunner for the vacant Elland Road role in a revelation that has not gone down well.
Hay confessed that Schreuder’s emergence as the leading candidate to take on the role at Elland Road has come out of nowhere.
“Alfred Schreuder was seen at Leeds United’s team hotel as well as Elland Road yesterday and from nowhere, he’s in the frame for the head coach’s job,” said Hay on Twitter. (13 February, 8:40 AM)
“The reaction to that possibility has been very obvious, though – so will Leeds go through with it?”

Underwhelming.
Something about the former Ajax boss coming into the fold at Elland Road just screams lazy recruitment from the Leeds United board.
If fans are feeling underwhelmed by the potential appointment of the Dutchman then how will the players be feeling about it all?
The guy was just sacked from his Ajax job for failing to keep his much-better team at the top of the Eredivisie, something that should have been a formality with the resources he had there.
Leeds United would be better off sticking with Michael Skubala for the Everton game at this point and this whole thought process just seems very rushed.
Schreuder would be the fifth or sixth choice to come into contention for the job in the last week and it’s pretty clear he was by no means one of the leading names when the search began.
Aiming for the best after sacking Jesse Marsch was the least Victor Orta and co could have done and this whole process has been nothing short of a shambles.
