Leeds United: Phil Hay names bizarre one to watch v Blackburn amid ongoing kit hoodoo
Phil Hay named the Leeds United away kit as “one to watch” ahead of the Championship clash with Blackburn, as fans worry over the fear of a curse that has not seen Leeds win in their away strip this season.
Leeds have only won in their all-white kit so far this season, leading some to suggest the kit is cursed, and Hay joked along with that as he questioned whether they could finally put the issue to bed.
On a more serious note, Hay named Blackburn star Sammie Szmodics as the one to watch for the weekend’s game, with the Irish international having scored 14 goals in 19 games this season.

Asked for his “one to watch” ahead of the Blackburn clash on The Square Ball Podcast [8 December], Hay shared: “I’m going to say from an opposition point of view, look out for Szmodics for them because he has scored a lot of goals for them and is actually a really, really good player, really talented player.
“But yeah, let’s make it the kit. There’s 7000 [fans] there, can we finally put this to bed?”
Superstitions will remain
Hay shared an interesting story during the podcast of Leeds under the management of Gary Monk constantly changing, mixing and matching their away strip amid fear of a hoodoo which had seen them lose a couple of games in that year’s kit.
Now, questions have emerged over whether a similar hoodoo could affect Daniel Farke’s side, having failed to win in the away strip as of yet, which is starting to cause some concern for superstitious fans.

7000 Leeds fans are expected to make the trip to Blackburn for the game, and they will be hoping that curse doesn’t strike yet again, otherwise, serious concerns may start to build, despite the fact that ultimately the kit has no baring on the actions of the players.
On a more serious note, Szmodics could cause Leeds some serious issues at the weekend, and they must pay him close attention, with his amazing goalscoring form able to threaten any side, as he has proven this year.
