Leeds United: Phenomenal days ahead as Sky Sports pundit reacts to manager hunt
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton believes the size of games against Everton and Southampton are “absolutely phenomenal” for Leeds United.
Prutton claims that the games can be a real building block to make sure the rest of the season finishes the way Leeds United fans want it to.
Speaking in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post (18 February), Prutton confessed that the need for Premier League safety rushed Leeds United into sacking Jesse Marsch.

“I think the minute that any form of threat to Premier League existence comes into any football club it’s almost a case of we just need to be safe. Jesse was very much about the process and the way that the team was playing. But Leeds weren’t getting results so with the greatest respect it doesn’t matter,” said Prutton as quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post (18 February).
“Leeds go to Everton tomorrow before hosting Southampton next weekend and the size of those games is absolutely phenomenal. Even though we are only in February, this is real platform building to make sure that the rest of the season pans out and finishes how Leeds fans want it to. They are massive games.”

Not wrong.
Prutton isn’t wrong on this one and the importance of Leeds United’s next two Premier League games is massive and could prove to be a turning point in the season.
Whether that’s good or bad remains to be seen but a lot will be clearer after the clubs trip to Goodison Park this afternoon, a relegation six-pointer where nothing less than a win is needed.
Michael Skubala will again be at the helm for the Whites and he’ll be looking to stake his claim towards managing the side for the remainder of the campaign.
The U21s manager has been thrust into the position due to the lack of urgency from the Leeds United hierarchy to find a successor for Marsch.
It would be unfair to judge Skubala’s outings as head coach due to this but fans will just be hoping that he can pull off some form of miracle over the next few weeks.
