Paul Merson predicts Leeds United vs Manchester United in Premier League clash

Paul Merson has predicted the outcome for Leeds United v Manchester United on 12 February and is “confident” that the Whites will lose the clash.

Leeds United battled hard for a point on 8 February against the Red Devils and will be hoping for a similar performance on Sunday afternoon.

Merson confessed that he thinks United will come away with a 3-0 win at Elland Road against the managerless Leeds United.

“Manchester United are missing their two best midfielders, and it showed against Leeds. Let’s be honest – with the way they’ve been playing, they should’ve won quite comfortably. They would’ve won that game with Casemiro and Eriksen in the side,” said Merson speaking to SportsKeeda. (9 February)

“Man United have improved now Ronaldo’s left, haven’t they? The other players are starting to express themselves a lot more now. Rashford can’t stop scoring. Bruno Fernandes looks like a different player now – I think he got dominated by Ronaldo. That might be an unfair thing to say, but it does look like that from the outside. Manchester United are not as inconsistent as they used to be, and that’s why they are where they are in the Premier League table.

“Leeds secured a big point this week. I don’t think you’ll see Manchester United held to a draw again. I don’t see them being like they were the other day. I’m quite confident that United will win this match. I expect them to bounce back and win this game easily.”

New manager bounce?

It seems the visit of Manchester United to Elland Road will be too soon for the old-new-manager bounce trick, something that may have changed Merson’s prediction.

The Whites proved in their trip to Old Trafford that they have plenty of weapons to worry United, even more so with the backing of an Elland Road crowd.

3-0 seems like a harsh result for Merson to predict and hopefully, he’ll be proven very wrong by the time Sunday afternoon comes to an end.

New January signings Max Wober and Weston McKennie seem to be slotting in perfectly to the Leeds United outfit and the signs are clear that they could be hugely beneficial for whoever takes on the head coaches role.

Willy Gnonto proved yet again that he is on the verge of becoming a truly top talent and the fact that he is still only a teenager is baffling.

All in all, it’s never easy to face a side in back-to-back fixtures, especially one as well-drilled and organised as United, but last night’s result should give the Whites a lot of confidence heading into this one.
